Mechanical engineer

Adex is looking for a Mechanical Designer (M/F) for one of its partners, a company specialized in industrial automation equipment and software located in Saint-georges and Sainte-Julie. The mechanical designer's main mandate is to design new equipment according to the needs of customers and to adapt existing equipment, while providing manufacturing support and gathering related information for engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

  •  Develop innovative new designs, develop plans and write specifications;
  •  Perform design calculations on all our projects;
  •  Perform sizing calculations on all projects;
  •  Write functional requirements for new machines under development;
  •  Design 3D mechanical parts;
  •  Provide technical support to sales, production, service department and purchasing;
  •  Ensure that budgets are met to guarantee the success of the project and      respect the objectives;
  •  Follow up on the progress of projects;
  •  Conduct machine safety risk analysis;
  •  Take plant surveys;
  •  Perform any other tasks required.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's or technical degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant training;
  • More than 8 years of relevant experience in equipment design;
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing and agri-food environment;
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards;
  • A creative person and able to develop innovative solutions;
  • Very good analytical skills and ability to synthesize;
  • Ability to develop technical drawings
  • Bilingual (English/French, spoken/written);
  • Good communicator;
  • An autonomous person;
  • Team player with a positive attitude;
  • Mastery of Solidworks and AutoCAD design software;
  • Mastery of common computer tools;
  • Willing to travel occasionally (Canada, United States).
  • Strong interest in equipment and automation.
